Edward Wormley (1907-1995) created many classic furniture designs throughout the 40s, 50s, and 60s for Dunbar and later Drexel. After working for Dunbar for 14 years he opened his own business in 1945. The Precedent series was designed in 1947 for Drexel Furniture Company.
 
The table ends are drop down leaves that can be raised to extend the length of the table.
The brilliant teak, shich is soft and brightens a room, complements the controled and linier design of this piece. resting on glides and supported by graceful squared legs, this piece can support a large gathering or be set aside descretly in a hall to showcase fine china or sculptures.
