6ft Quilt Architectural Facade Framed Art Signed by Lucinda Carlstrom
1990 – 1991
Splashes of color and unusual textures are sewn together forming a facade
Columns, arcs and steps giving different visual levels and a highly detailed composition.
Her piecework quilt constructions are made out of handmade, primarily Japanese paper, silk (both new dupponni and re-cycled kimonos and thrift store dresses)
and pure 23K gold leaf.
She also uses heat and chemically patinated bronze leaf.
These materials are adhered to acid free papers and cut and sewn by hand and by machine.
The “quilts” are stuffed with batting and finished on the back with cotton. Often her works are constructed of over 1200 small pieces of paper and silk.
Ms. Carlstrom has won many awards and her work is included
in many corporate and private collections including:
Bank of America
City of Atlanta
State of Georgia
City of Chattanooga
City of Charleston
Walt Disney World Corporate Offices
Ford Motor Company
