The Red Lion Furniture Co.
(The John Adam Ebert Furniture Factory 1854-1959)
Furniture company started in the Red Lion Community Near Philadelphia by S.S. Sechrist, Harry E. Craley, J. B. Sechrist, T. E. Brooks, and D. A. Horn. Most of the burden of organizing the venture fell to Harry E. Cratley whos orginal intention it was to organize and establish a furniture factory in Red Lion. Mr. Craley was a contractor and wood-worker by trade. For years, he manifested an interest in furniture building. His study of the furniture industry had brought to him to the importance of the history furniture manufacture. The result of these efforts is the founding of the organization of the Red Lion Furniture Company in 1907 which marks the birth of furniture manufacturing in that community. In 1916, other manufacturers joined the Red Lion community like the transfer of the Ebert Furniture Company from Philadelphia to that area, the founding of the Red Lion Cabinet Company in 1917, and in 1924 by the formation of the York County Chair Company.
